Holidays are precisely why this green alkalizer smoothie was invented. To clean out the cobwebs and inject your system with immune-boosting nutrients. Not to sweet, but not too bland, this nutrient packed potion will deliver a plethora of goodness thank to the power of greens. Full to the brim with cholorphyll, the best blood builder there is. Chlorophyll is the “blood” of plants. It is spookily almost identical in makeup to human blood and it’s purpose is to transport oxygen and nutrients to where they’re most needed and bind & remove toxins from deep within our cells and blood. By ingesting foods rich in chloro¬phyll (think green), our cells can breathe and our blood, tissues and organs can be cleansed.

Lemons are amazing for alkalinizing and detoxifying the body. They are filled with vitamin C to help boost the immune system and contain powerful antibacterial properties. It is no accident that parsley was included also, it is a powerful and natural cleanser. Its chemical compounds bind to the heavy metals in your body and help them to be eliminated so your internal world is more toxin free. The herb also possesses antimicrobial and antibacterial properties so it’s a handy herb to have around and has earned it’s rightful spot in this smoothie.

Watercress – part of the cruciferous family, these tiny stems are full of vitamin A for healthy eyes, and alert immune system. Because good things come in threes, vitamin A is also needed to produce your body’s iron, which carries your body’s oxygen, keeping your cells breathing.

Ingredients
  • 200ml water
  • 1 apple, (for the sake of colour matching, I used green)
  • 1 stick of celery
  • ¼ cucumber
  • 35g spinach or kale
  • 10g watercress
  • ¼ avocado
  • 1cm ginger
  • 1 heaped tablespoon parsley
  • Juice of a lemon
Instructions
  1. Blend ingredients in a blender and enjoy every sip!
